6/30/11
Quick note to the list to plug a run of
Seattle-local shows, including an evening of storytelling and music with the
delightful Auntmama tonight and a couple of fast-approaching dates with the (mostly-)Full Band. <skip to calendar> Hope folk are well and summery!
In other news, since I last wrote Brian Hoskins’ Ad
Astra Choir at Lindbergh High
School in
Video of various sideman
endeavors has also been popping up (though sadly none with my main
side-project, Reilly & Maloney—about to hit
the region themselves with a run of dates), and I’m pleased to welcome
some new names into the mix including Steve Wacker (album) and Rose Laughlin (live). Had a great run with Ian Lang when he was here, and
excited for new, WW-graced recordings from Nancy K. Dillon and Deb Seymour (the
latter imminent!).
And, oh, The
Bushwick Book Club...
These events have become some of the most vibrant I have ever
experienced on the local songwriting scene, and we’re steaming right along with
an Independence Day bash featuring Howard Zinn’s The People’s History of the United States July 3. To recap: a collective
of songwriters reads a book each month, writes original music inspired by it,
and then performs these songs in a show!
Look for my column about the Book Club in July’s Victory Music Review,
and come see it for yourself!
